Formaldehyde (HCHO) Detection

Portable & fixed-point HCHO detectors for healthcare, pharmaceuticals, chemical manufacturing, agriculture, and environmental testing.

About Formaldehyde Detection

Formaldehyde, a colorless gas with a strong, pungent smell, is widely used in the production of resins, as a bonding agent in wood products, and in the textile industry to make fabrics crease-resistant.

It’s also a preservative in some paints and coatings. Despite its utility, formaldehyde is known for its toxicity and potential carcinogenicity, emphasizing the need for effective ventilation and gas detection systems in workplaces.

Common Challenges

  • Ensuring adequate ventilation to prevent formaldehyde accumulation.
  • Regularly maintaining and calibrating gas detection systems for accuracy.
  • Addressing the health risks of prolonged exposure, including respiratory issues and cancer.

Current Guidelines

OSHA:

  • PEL-TWA: 0.75 ppm [0.5 ppm Action Level]
  • PEL-STEL: 2 ppm
